Our firm
Established in 1991, gsi Real Estate & Planning Advisors Inc. brings together personnel with more than 150 years of collective experience. This includes direct involvement in the management and day-to-day coordination of major appraisal engagements, both through their work at gsi and with public and private sector agencies across Ontario.
We provide a full range of counselling and expert witness testimony services relating to real property valuation. Our experience includes preparing appraisal and valuation reports for matters before the Ontario Land Tribunal, the Superior Court of Justice (Ontario), and other arbitration proceedings.
Our role is to provide independent analysis that can be examined and understood. We explain the market evidence, assumptions and reasoning behind our opinions to assist clients and counsel in negotiations and judicial proceedings.
gsi has conducted projects throughout Ontario for law firms, municipalities, development corporations, banks, Infrastructure Ontario, Waterfront Toronto, Metrolinx, colleges, universities and school boards.
Who we work with
Our clients include property owners, developers, municipalities, school boards, other public agencies and legal counsel. Assignments range from property acquisitions and financing to expropriation, development approvals and valuation disputes.
How we work
We begin by understanding the decision, property interests and timing involved. Market research and planning review inform our analysis. Our reports explain the evidence, assumptions and reasoning behind the opinion so clients can understand its basis and use it in their decisions.
Our people
Founder Ken Stroud works alongside Partners Peter Rusin, Catherine Spears, Paul Dombrow and Farhan Qurashi. Their experience spans valuation, planning, acquisition, negotiation and expert evidence.
